How To Use Downloaded Fonts In Word Mac Air

Event

Users may see problems with fonts when using version sixteen.nine of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote and Microsoft PowerPoint on macOS.

Symptoms:

  • Text appears garbled or in a different font.

  • Some fonts including Times New Roman are missing or unavailable in the font picker.

  • Some fonts are being substituted with other fonts.

  • You may run across a message bar saying "Nosotros were unable to load all your fonts. Some fonts may be missing."

STATUS: WORKAROUND

We recommend you follow these steps:

  • Check the installed versions of the font. If you have multiple versions, then make sure the latest version of the font is active.

  • If you have a single version of font, bank check the font type. If the font blazon is displayed as "PostScript-Type1", we recommend you lot upgrade it to a newer "OpenType" version of the font.

  • If you have a big number of fonts installed on your system, Microsoft Function apps may not be able to load all the fonts. This causes some fonts not to appear in the font picker. You tin work around this past setting the fonts you need that do non appear equally prioritized fonts.

  1. If Font Book application is already open, quit it

  2. Launch Font Volume (open applications folder in Finder, discover and launch "Font book.app")

  3. Select All Fontsfrom the leftmost pane

  4. Select the Font Info push button (inscribed "i") from the height bar or press Command + i so that the rightmost pane is displaying font information

  5. Find the font in question in the middle pane and expand the selection. You should see duplicate entries of each face up, with some of them marked every bit Off.

    • Launch Font Book (open up applications binder in Finder, notice and launch "Font book.app")

    • Select the font y'all want to prioritize in the centre pane

    • Ensure Font Information is selected in the meridian left of the window, and discover the PostScript Name field in the right pane and re-create it.

  2. Quit all Role apps

  3. Launch Terminal.app

  4. Blazon the command 'defaults write com.microsoft.function PrioritizedFonts -array "postscript proper noun 1" "postscript proper name 2" "etc."' and hit return to run information technology. Postscript names here are case-sensitive and must match exactly what Font Book.app provides.   5. Launch your Role apps. One your apps have loaded, quit your Microsoft Office apps and relaunch them a second time to see your updated fonts listing.

Note:Prioritized fonts is only supported for Word and PowerPoint for macOS. To delete the prioritized fonts list, close all Function apps, launch Terminal.app and then run the following control: "defaults delete com.microsoft.part PrioritizedFonts".
